‘Coloring for a Cure’ contest in Mesa to raise Alzheimer’s Awareness

Posted

Young artists, grab your crayons, markers and coloring pencils. Broadway Mesa Village, a senior living community, is hosting a “Coloring for a Cure” contest, and anyone can participate.

The event is part of the community’s Assisted Living Week activities (Sept. 8-14), with this year’s theme “Inspiring Generations,” bringing people together for a great cause, according to a release.

“We want to make a splash of color in the fight against Alzheimer’s,” Brooke Rogers, executive director of Broadway Mesa Village, said. “By involving everyone, we want to inspire hope as we all work together to raise awareness.”

Entries will be judged on details, imagination, brilliance, intricacy and overall colorfulness. The top six artists will win prize baskets.

Winners will be announced via Facebook Live at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, with the following prizes:

  • Three $10 prize baskets for the most whimsical, detailed and imaginative creations.
  • Two $25 prize baskets for the most brilliant and intricate designs.
  • One $50 prize basket for the most colorful and vibrant entry.

Entries must be submitted by Tuesday, Sept. 10, either by email to Life Enrichment Director Teresa Hadley at Thadley@pegasusseniorliving.com or in person at 7231 E. Broadway Road in Mesa.

Broadway Mesa Village is also encouraging everyone to consider supporting the Alzheimer’s Association by going to https://www.alz.org/
