Arizona Library’s Summer Reading Program isn’t just for children — join library staff at the Handlebar Pub & Grill this summer to talk books and brews.
A Books & Brews book club — a laid-back book discussion and mixer — will be held 6:30-8 p.m. May 19 at The Handlebar Pub & Grill, 650 W. Apache Trail in Apache Junction. The club is to meet the third Thursday of each month through August.
“Books & Brews will take place monthly May-August and each gathering will focus on a specific genre. Anyone is welcome to join and discuss books that fit the genre — or any book they’ve enjoyed lately that they can’t help talking about. Handlebar is offering 10% off food and drinks to anyone who comes to Books & Brews,” according to a release.
Not only does reading reduce stress, improve sleep, and increase empathy and emotional intelligence, but gathering to discuss books in a fun and social setting also gives adults a much-needed break from the day-to-day difficulties we face, the release states.
