The Wigwam, Litchfield Park’s iconic, 440-acre resort, has been recognized with Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ accreditation.

Under the guidance of GBAC, a Division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, The Wigwam has implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention across the resort, according to a news release.

Considered the gold standard in outbreak prevention, response and recovery for prepared facilities, GBAC’s STAR™ verifies that facilities have best practices to prepare for, respond to and recover from outbreaks and pandemics, including COVID-19.

The resort, 300 E. Wigwam Blvd., adopted The Wigwam Cares Wellness policy to prioritize the health and safety of guests and staff, including following all guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control, the release stated.

The Wigwam also launched its own Sanitation and Wellness Awareness Team with members deployed and visible throughout all public areas to regularly spray and wipe down surfaces such as pool chairs, door handles and more. The SWAT continues to remain in action daily and can be seen throughout the resort, the release stated.

“The health and safety of our guests and staff has been our highest priority since we reopened in mid-May, and we are pleased to have the protocols that we put in place recognized with GBAC STAR™ accreditation,” Katy Powers, resort managing director, said in a prepared statement.

The Wigwam is an iconic Arizona landmark and AAA Four-Diamond resort built in 1918 as a gathering place for Ohio-based executives of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.

Today, it features amenities that include three pools with adult and family areas, five dining experiences, three 18-hole championship golf courses, nine lighted tennis courts, the 26,000-square-foot LeMonds – Aveda Salon and Spa and 100,000 combined square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.
