Monday, June 16 is the final day for Arizonans to register to vote in the upcoming special primary election for Congressional District 7, which will be held Tuesday, July 15.
The election will fill the seat vacated by Rep. Raúl Grijalva, the longtime Democratic congressman who died in March from complications related to cancer treatment. Voters in southern and western Arizona, including parts of Tucson, Yuma, Nogales, Goodyear, Avondale, and areas near Litchfield Park, will choose candidates to advance to the Sept. 23 general election.
A general election debate is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Primary debates were held, offering voters a first look at the full slate of candidates.
The Republican Primary Debate took place Sunday, June 9, and included Daniel Francis Butierez Sr., Jorge Rivas and Jimmy Rodriguez
The Democratic Primary Debate was held Monday, June 10, featuring Deja Foxx, Adelita Grijalva, Patrick Harris Sr., Daniel Hernandez and Jose Malvido Jr.
The winners of each party’s primary will appear on the Sept. 23 general election ballot.
June 16 is the voter registration deadline
June 18 ballots will be mailed; early voting begins
July 7 is the last day to request a mail-in ballot
July 8 is the last recommended day to return ballots by mail
July 15 is the special primary election
Sept. 23 is the special general election
Voters can confirm registration status, locate voting sites, and access personalized voter information at BeBallotReady.Vote. To register, individuals must be U.S. citizens, Arizona residents, at least 18 years old by Election Day, and provide proof of residency.
