Arizona service members, veterans and their family members looking for employment may want to carve out some time Thursday, March 11.

BestCompaniesAZ, a Valley company specializing in workplace culture and employer branding is teaming up with Career Connectors for a free virtual hiring event featuring more than 20 military-friendly employers that are currently hiring, according to a release.

Modeled after “TED Talks,” BestCompaniesAZ’s seventh annual Business Networking and Career Event for Veterans will run 9 to 11:30 a.m. March 11. Advance registration is required. To register and learn more about the hiring companies and job positions available, visit militaryaz.org.

Last year's  pre-pandemic event, drew about 500 job-seekers, organizers said.

The event will feature presentations, called “Vet Talks,” from different military professionals who have transitioned into civilian life with some of Arizona’s top companies, including ADP, Axon, Farmers Insurance, Freedom Financial Network and GoDaddy.

Designed to empower service members and promote military-friendly workplaces, Vet Talks will share stories of achievement and career success from veteran-committed employers. It also will provide employment guidance, career advancement tips and advice for transferring military skills to civilian employment, the release stated.

Many of the companies scheduled to participate are nationally recognized for their military-friendly company culture and veteran-committed hiring initiatives, earning them awards such as Military Times Best for Vets Employers, US Veterans Magazine’s Best of the Best, Diversity Inc. Top 50 Companies for Diversity, Arizona’s Most Admired Companies, Top Companies to Work for in Arizona, FORTUNE 100 Best Companies to Work For in America and FORTUNE Most Admired Companies, the release stated.

“Military men and women are often celebrated and recruited for their leadership, team-building, organizational commitment, decision-making skills and advanced technical training skills,” Denise Gredler, founder and CEO of BestCompaniesAZ, said in a prepared statement. “Our goal is to bring together top hiring companies, veteran resource groups and actively connect hundreds of qualified veterans with top-notch career opportunities.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to virtually meet representatives of Axon, Deloitte, Freedom Financial Network, GoDaddy, Habitat for Humanity, Liberty Mutual, Ring, Spear Education, USAA, Voya Financial and more. They also can set up one-on-one virtual discussions with military recruiters, hiring managers, military-committed organizations and fellow business professionals to learn more about career opportunities available along with veteran-focused career advancement advice and employment guidance.

Several veteran resource groups and military-focused community organizations also will be on hand for the virtual event, including Recruit Military, Heal the Hero Foundation and Birdies for the Brave.

“Career Connectors is honored to provide the interactive virtual platform and facilitation for this year’s Vet Talk event,” Jessica Pierce, CEO/founder of Career Connectors, said in a prepared statement. “This event is another example of Arizona’s commitment to helping veterans and military spouses build a great civilian career with one of Arizona’s veteran committed employers.”
