Transplant City Beer Co. move gets planning commission nod

Final say rests with City Council

Posted

The Litchfield Park Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-0 to recommend that the City Council approve a request by Transplant City Beer Co. to move its operations.

Vice Chairman Michael Faith and Commissioner David Ledyard, who are affiliated with the business, recused themselves from the Tuesday, Oct. 13 vote.

The City Council, which has a final say on use permits, will consider the recommendation when it meets in regular virtual session at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Justin Egbert and Paul Power, owners of BeerdOPower Brewing, which operates TCBC, have asked to move their brewery and tap room operations from 107 W. Honeysuckle St. next door to 103 W. Honeysuckle St.

Commissioners recommended the council approve the request for an indefinite amount of time instead of requiring the owners to renew every five years, and require the business to close at 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, 11 p.m. Saturday and 8 p.m. Sunday to minimize impacts to surrounding residential neighborhoods.

Litchfield Park Director of Planning Pamela Maslowski said the owners agreed.

According to their website, Mr. Egbert and Mr. Power craft core brews that include Tiffany Amber, Pepino Sunset and special releases including oREO Speedwagon and Milli Vachilli.

Moving one door down would allow TCBC to increase production capacity and increase its ability to hold special release events.

Plans include an outdoor patio and a roll-up door, Ms. Maslowski said.

The virtual Zoom meeting will begin at 7 p.m. The agenda and instructions for joining and watching the meeting will be available on  the city’s website, litchfield-park.org, the day before the meeting.
