No arrests have been made as Mesa police continue to investigate a Wednesday night shooting that killed a teen and injured a man, authorities said.

Azriel Lloyd, 16, died at a hospital following the shooting that occurred just before 10 p.m. May 21 at an apartment complex, 1439 S. Val Vista Drive, Mesa, police said. The man also was shot but is expected to survive.

Investigators learned Lloyd was hosting a party at an apartment, according to a Mesa Police Department release, which added that he and the man were planning to meet and rob someone.

“Multiple people were interviewed, and a potential suspect vehicle was identified and followed to the Litchfield Park area. Ultimately two investigative leads were interviewed, but no arrests have been made in this homicide case,” the release stated.

Police said they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and are looking for any witnesses who saw the shooting.
