Lynn Earl Roderick died of cancer Aug. 27, 2022 at age 76 in Litchfield Park, AZ. Born in Montpelier, Idaho Feb. 3, 1946 to the late Earl H. and Karla Mouritsen Roderick. He started college at Utah State University, was a missionary to Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and graduated with honors at BYU. A fine athlete, Lynn dribbled circles around basketball rivals and was a superb baseball pitcher. He was rarely without a ball in his arms –– until he met Elaine Margaret Cook, a dark-eyed beauty, and the love of his life. They married Feb. 12, 1969 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and were together 53 years. They were blessed with four children and also reared a spirited granddaughter, Sabrina. Lynn’s career was in nuclear energy, including at the Palo Verde Generating Station the last 34 years. He and Elaine volunteered much service to their community and church. He led the Litchfield Park Library’s annual book sale for three decades and, over the same time, was a leader in his local congregation. In latter years, ill health led him at times to write about some family members in a critical way that did not reflect his usual strong mind. Elaine survives him, along with children Phillip, Julie Karen (David) Foechterle, Jenifer Ann Bayer, and Satina Marie (Damon) Gauthier; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
