Southwest Valley actors sought for Goodyear’s Shakespeare in the Park

Auditions are under way for aspiring local actors interested in performing in the city of Goodyear’s upcoming “Shakespeare in the Park: A Community Theatrical Experience.”

Directed by Kevvin Taylor, the event scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 20-21 in the outdoor amphitheater at Goodyear Community Park, is a joint production of the West Valley Arts Council and SFE - seek first entertainment.

Mr. Taylor is seeking female characters in William Shakespeare’s plays for monologues/duologues, and both adults and youths to perform the English playwright, poet and actor’s sonnets. He also will cast a DJ and a host for the event.

Rehearsals are tentatively scheduled for Saturdays, Nov. 14 through Feb. 19 and will be held virtually via Zoom.

The event will feature two stages, and will provide a revolving Shakespearean experience with the DJ and host at the radius, and artists delivering the Bard of Avon’s one-stanza, 14-line poems, published in 1609.

Auditions will be conducted virtually, by appointment, through Friday, Oct. 16. Virtual call backs will run through Saturday, Oct. 24.

Those auditioning must email their headshot, resume and a video of themselves performing a Shakespearean monologue and a monologue of their choice.
