Litchfield Park native Josh Rojas finishes season with D-backs

Litchfield Park native and Millenium High School grad Josh Rojas made his Major League Baseball debut in a familiar uniform.

The 25-year-old debuted with the Diamondbacks in August and finished the season in the big leagues. Rojas had two singles, drove in and scored a run in his MLB-debut Aug. 12 at Coors Field in Denver against the Colorado Rockies.

Rojas finished the season with 41 games played, a .217 average, two home runs, 16 RBI and four stolen bases. His first big-league homer came Aug. 30 at Chase Field against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Rojas played mainly in left field but also appeared in right field and second base. In the minors, Rojas, a true utility player also played at third base, first base and shortstop.

The Diamondbacks acquired Rojas, along with three other minor leaguers, in the trade that sent Zack Greinke to the Houston Astros.

Rojas was red-hot in Triple-A this year, hitting .339 with a 1.076 slugging percentage.

In Rojas’ senior season at Millenium in 2013, he hit .379 with four homers, eight doubles, two triples, 11 steals and a .495 on-base percentage.
