Litchfield Park hosts toy drive

Posted

The City of Litchfield Park is inviting residents to donate new, unwrapped toys for children in need as part of the Marine Toys for Tots program. The drive will run through Dec. 13, with donations accepted at Litchfield Park City Hall, 214 W. Wigwam Blvd., 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Residents are encouraged to donate toys valued at five dollars or more to help support local children and families during the holiday season.

The goal of the drive is to collect toys that will be distributed to economically disadvantaged children in Litchfield Park and surrounding areas. Toys for Tots, a program of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, has been providing holiday gifts to children in need since 1947.

To date, the program has distributed more than 677 million toys to 301 million children across the country. The program relies on local volunteers to sort and distribute donations, ensuring that children in the community have presents to open on Christmas morning.

Toys collected in Litchfield Park will be given to children in the immediate area.
