The city of Litchfield Park will kick off its fall special events season with a socially distanced, family friendly drive-in theater screening of “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.”
The screening will mark Litchfield Park’s first special event since the COVID-19 pandemic in March.
The computer-animated 2001 film showing, sponsored by Kiwanis of Litchfield Park and Friends of the Rec, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 in the temporary drive-in set up on the northwest corner of Honeysuckle Street and Old Litchfield Road.
Tickets are $10 per vehicle, and only 100 will be sold to allow for 8 feet spacing between vehicles, Litchfield Park Special Events Coordinator Tricia Kramer announced.
“The parking lot will open at 6 p.m. to allow plenty of time for guests to arrive, park and settle in,” Ms. Kramer said, noting vehicles should be in place no later than 7:15. “It is ‘Rated G’ and is a funny, animated film that you and your kids will love!”
“For this initial showing, attendees will be instructed to remain in their vehicles unless they need to use one of the portable restrooms that will be available onsite,” Ms. Kramer said. “Families will tune in to the movie directly through their vehicles’ FM stereos.”
Attendees moving about in public will be required to wear face coverings under the orders currently in place in Litchfield Park. Food and beverages will not be sold on site, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own snacks or visit one of of the city’s restaurants before heading to the drive-in, she said.
Tickets must be purchased in advance through Eventbrite; they will not be available at the gate.
