The West Valley Mavericks Foundation has teamed with HopeKids to assist families dealing with life-threatening medical conditions through sponsored events.
Eight-year-old Bryson, who has multiple rare medical conditions, got to experience a HopeKids event because of the sponsorship. Bryson recently attended a private ice skating event at AZ Ice Peoria, organized by the West Valley Mavericks Foundation. The event, which included accommodation for children in wheelchairs, provided Bryson with a positive experience following a major surgery.
HopeKids Arizona organizes more than 500 events annually for more than 1,300 families across the state, at no cost. These activities include theater productions, sporting events, concerts and recreational outings.
By handling the planning and financial aspects, HopeKids allows families to enjoy these activities without added stress. Recognizing the wider impact of a child’s illness, HopeKids also includes siblings and parents in its events to help create lasting memories. The organization also provides a space for families to connect with others facing similar challenges.
The West Valley Mavericks Foundation has sponsored four major HopeKids events, impacting about 750 family members. These events include Bryson’s ice skating session, a movie screening, a pool party and a play event at a trampoline park.
Founded in 2012, the West Valley Mavericks Foundation is an all-volunteer group dedicated to charitable efforts in the West Valley. With 51 active members, the organization is known for its support of local causes and its focus on community benefit.
