Although Arizona is a landlocked state, it still lies under the protection of the 11th Coast Guard district, which encompasses the states of California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah. While the Coast Guard is a part of the U.S. Armed Forces, it is also a law enforcement organization, a regulatory agency, a member of the U.S. Intelligence Community and a first responder.
The city plans to celebrate the 11th district and all active and veteran members of the Coast Guard in its community. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
