Litchfield Park Branch Library to begin in-person service

Pop-in pickup begins Oct. 5

Posted

Litchfield Park Branch Library patrons soon will be able to pick up items on hold, handle their account needs and browse a limited selection of the library’s collection in person as the Maricopa County Library District transitions into Phase 3 reopening.

Pop-in pickup hours at the library, 101 W. Wigwam Blvd., will begin Monday, Oct. 5, library officials announced in a release.

The county closed all 18 of its libraries in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic and gradually began adding services such as curbside pickups to its online offerings, with hours and services varying by community.

“In November, we hope to resume regular operating hours, with new policies and precautions in place. The safety of all who enjoy our libraries is our top priority. This timeline is subject to change based on data from the CDC and Maricopa County Department of Public health,” the release stated.

Pop-in hours will be 1-7 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.

In-person events, computers, recorder kiosks and study rooms will not be included in pop-in services, officials said.

Curbside pickups will remain in effect for those who prefer not to venture indoors. Hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Mondays through Wednesdays.

The library also offers free outdoor WiFi from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

“MCLD recommends finding a place where safe physical distancing can be practiced while using the signal,” the release stated.

Library patrons can continue to access virtual events through the library system’s MCLD Now playlist; stream music, get homework help or practice for job interviews with eResources!; and get 24-hour access to entertainment, learning and professional development using a smartphone, computer or tablet.

They also can schedule virtual Book-A-Librarian appointments to receive assistance in the areas of homework help, general reference questions, digital device setup, library card services and help finding digital content.
