Litchfield Elementary superintendent recognized as Superintendent to Watch

Posted

Dr. Carter Davidson, superintendent of Litchfield Elementary School District, has been named one of the 2024-25 Superintendents to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association.

The award honors district leaders with fewer than five years of experience who demonstrate dynamic leadership, effective communication and innovative use of technology to engage and inform school communities.

The Superintendents to Watch program recognizes up to 25 district leaders each year for their commitment to strong communication, transparency, and relationship-building across the school district.

Davidson started as the LESD superintendent in July 2023, with previous experience in human resources and student services in Peoria Unified School District and Alhambra Elementary School District.

According to the NSPRA, Davidson's leadership approach is centered on a student-first philosophy, emphasizing the importance of listening to all stakeholders and making decisions that best serve students. His leadership style prioritizes integrity, transparency, and accountability, which have helped build trust and strengthen the district's culture.

In his first year as superintendent, Davidson implemented a video communication initiative, allowing him to connect directly with staff, families, and the wider community. These videos enable him to share updates, district news, and messages of support in a personal format.

Davidson also guided the creation of the Litchfield Elementary School District’s 2024-29 Strategic Plan. One focus of the strategic plan is the vision to "Prepare Every Litchfield Learner to Succeed through Readiness, Resources, and Relationships." Communication is explicitly identified as one of the key characteristics of a “Litchfield Learner,” alongside teamwork, problem-solving, character, continuous learning, and content expertise. This focus ensures that communication remains central to the district’s efforts to support student success.

"(It's) an honor for sure, (it's been) fun to share our Litchfield story in ways that engage others," stated Davidson.
