Litchfield Elementary School District reports 90 weekly cases

Litchfield Elementary School District reported 90 weekly COVID-19 cases and 603 total cases since the semester began on Aug. 2. 

The school district, which serves close to 11,500 elementary and middle school students, has also reported 259 active quarantine cases for the week. 

The district is seeing a greater number of active COVID cases  compared with last week, when it reported 69 active cases. There are, however, fewer students in quarantine than last Friday, Nov. 5, when the district reported 390 students in quarantine. 

Last week, Western Sky Middle School had 15 active COVID cases and 118 people were in quarantine, according to numbers released Nov. 5. 

The school has managed to bring that down to 7 cases, and 21 people in quarantine, as of  4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12.

  • Litchfield Elementary: 13 total cases reported; 10 active quarantine cases
  • L. Thomas Heck Middle School: 0 total cases reported; 7 active quarantine cases
  • Mabel Padgett Elementary: 3 total cases reported; 7 active quarantine cases
  • Palm Valley Elementary: 12 total cases reported; 32 active quarantine cases
  • Rancho Santa Fe Elementary: 8 total cases reported; 4 active quarantine cases
  • Scott L. Libby Elementary: 2 total cases reported; 5 active quarantine cases
  • Verrado Elementary: 5 total cases reported; 25 active quarantine cases
  • Verrado Heritage Elementary: 7 total cases reported; 17 active quarantine cases
  • Verrado Middle School: 7 total cases reported; 17 active quarantine cases
  • Western Sky Middle School: 7 total cases reported; 21 active quarantine cases
  • White Tanks Learning Center: 2 total cases reported; 2 active quarantine cases
  • Wigwam Creek Middle School: 7 total cases reported; 53 active quarantine cases

All but one of the district’s 16 campuses are experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks. 

A school is said to have an outbreak when two or more students or staff from different households test positive for COVID-19 within a two-week period, according to county health officials.
