Babbo Italian Eatery will hold its fourth annual "Baseball for Babbo" Day of Giving on Wednesday, Feb. 26, with 100% of profits from all eight locations donated to the Seena Magowitz Foundation to support pancreatic cancer research at HonorHealth Research Institute.
Over the past three years, the event has raised $417,562, with a goal of reaching $1 million. The Pollack family and Roger E. Magowitz, founder of the Seena Magowitz Foundation, will match all funds raised up to $50,000.
The event honors the memory of Babbo Italian Eatery’s founder, Ken Pollack, who passed away from pancreatic cancer in late 2022. A baseball enthusiast, Pollack’s legacy is reflected in the event, which combines his passion for the sport with the goal of advancing pancreatic cancer research.
“My dad believed deeply in the importance of giving back and creating a cycle of generosity,” said Taylor Schultz, Pollack’s daughter and marketing director at Babbo Italian Eatery. “Our annual Day of Giving is a meaningful way for us to carry forward his legacy and uphold the values he instilled in all of us.”
Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S., with a five-year survival rate of just 13%. While progress has been made, there remains a significant need for improved early detection, treatment options, and therapies. The Seena Magowitz Foundation is focused on advancing research, raising awareness, and connecting patients with medical professionals to improve outcomes.
“Every effort in the fight against pancreatic cancer brings us closer to hope and healing,” said Roger E. Magowitz. “We are proud to join forces with Babbo Italian Eatery and the community to make a lasting impact and change the future of this devastating disease. Our vision is a world where pancreatic cancer is a chronic, treatable disease.”
Valley residents can participate in the Day of Giving by dining in, ordering takeout, purchasing gift cards, or ordering catering at
The event will also feature a silent auction and raffle with baseball memorabilia from players such as Mookie Betts, Vladimir Guerrero, and Dansby Swanson. All proceeds from the auction and raffle will benefit pancreatic cancer research.
Additionally, Babbo and the Seena Magowitz Foundation will host an event on Feb. 26 for pancreatic cancer patients, caregivers, and medical staff at HonorHealth Research Institute.
Babbo Italian Eatery, now in its 22nd year, operates eight locations across the Valley and a traveling food truck. The family-owned business has a history of community involvement and continues to support charitable initiatives.
