ALCOHOL AND THE AGING BRAIN: 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. PORA Learning Center, 13815 West Camino Del Sol, Sun City. Sally Charalambous will address the mental, emotional and spiritual gains that can be realized and will discuss new coping skills for each aspect of holistic health and wellbeing. Registration for this class requires 5 class credits ($5).                                                                             

BREAST CANCER PREVENTION AND SCREENING INFORMATION EVENT: 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. Banner Olive Branch Senior Center, 11250 N. 107th Ave; Sun City. Please join for topics as: cancer screening guidelines and recommendations, risk factors and prevention measures, what to do if you find breast changes, breast cancer surgery, mammograms and biopsies. HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS: 9:30-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11. The Colonnade, 19116 North Colonnade Way, Surprise. Presley Reader, MPA, CSA, will share the key steps you need to take to keep self and loved one’s right where you are. All attendees will receive a free copy of Aging in Arizona: Key Challenges & Opportunities Facing the Elderly & Their Families. Registration required

PARKINSON’S CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP: 10-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11. Banner Sun Health Research Institute, 10515 W. Santa Fe Drive, Sun City. This group is for care partners of someone with Parkinson’s disease. Join to share stories and learn from each other in a supportive atmosphere.

OB BABY CARE PRENATAL CLASS: 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, 5555 W. Thunderbird Road; Glendale. This class is for mothers and their support person who want information on parenting skills, baby care and home safety. Topics include feeding, diapering, bathing and comforting the baby. Cost is $25

OB TOUR - MATERNITY TOUR: 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. Banner Del Webb Medical Center, 14502 W. Meeker Blvd; Sun City West. This tour is of the private birthing suites, couplet-care suites, respite care and special care nurseries. Please register each individual who will be attending. Bring water and light snack.                                                                                                                                         

OB BREASTFEEDING CLASS: 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. Banner Del Webb Medical Center, 14502 W. Meeker Blvd; Sun City West. Join to find out how couples can work together towards successfully feeding a baby. A board certified lactation consultant will address the health benefits for mom and baby, breastfeeding positions, pumping and milk storage. Cost is $25

ANNUAL DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT TRAINING: 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14. The Colonnade Recreation Center, 19116 N. Colonnade Way, Surprise. Sun Health’s certified diabetes educators will provide guests with the latest recommendations as part of an annual Medicare/health insurance benefit for diabetes support. Martha Burruel, from the Alzheimer’s Association, will share the latest research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, using hands-on tools to help guests incorporate these into a plan for healthy aging. BCBSAZ ADVANTAGE: PLANT-BASED DIET: 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. BCBSAZ Advantage Service Center, 14805 N. Del Webb Blvd; Sun City. Learn about a whole-foods, plant-based lifestyle for the prevention and management of chronic disease.  BEHAVIORS AND COMMUNICATIONS: 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. Banner Sun Health Research Institute, 10515 W. Santa Fe Drive; Sun City. This program will help guests to understand how dementia affects one’s ability to communicate and understand. Learn new strategies to improve communication and help acquire skills to avoid communication pitfalls and reduce behavior problems.  BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP BANNER THUNDERBIRD: 2:30-4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, 5555 W. Thunderbird Road; Glendale. Calling all Breastfeeding Mothers who would like to meet with other breastfeeding moms and get support. Join to learn breastfeeding techniques and helpful hints.                                                                                                                     

PREGNANCY AND INFANT LOSS SUPPORT GROUP: 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, 5555 W. Thunderbird Road; Glendale. This class is for any mother who has had a miscarriage, fetal loss, or newborn loss. 

HEALTHY LIVING WITH DIABETES: 1:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16. Banner Peoria Corporate Office, 16155 N. 83rd Avenue, Suite 201; Peoria. A class focusing on blood sugar management to optimize health and vitality.
