Estrella Mountain Community College is presenting the one-act comedy “Fast Food” by Tracy Wells, a behind-the-counter look at the chaos and quirks of the fast food industry.

Performances will be held Thursdays through Saturdays until Satuday, April 19 at the EMCC Performing Arts Center. Two shows will be offered each day, beginning at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Admission is free, but seating is limited.

The production features a cast of characters that includes fast food employees, eccentric customers and representatives from rival restaurant chains. The performance runs between 30 and 45 minutes and offers a series of quick-witted scenes highlighting the unpredictability of the fast food world, complete with a nod to the ever-present broken shake machine.

The performances will take place at EMCC’s Performing Arts Center, 3000 N Dysart Road, in Avondale, a 30,000-square-foot facility that opened in 2015 on the college’s Avondale campus. The center includes a nearly 300-seat main theater, a black box theater, music and dance studios, a costume shop and a media technical lab. The lobby features a rotating art gallery and the suspended light sculpture “Breaking Sound.”

Estrella Mountain Community College is part of the Maricopa County Community College District and serves more than 15,000 students annually. The college offers over 55 accredited degree and certificate programs, including workforce training through its SouthWest Skill Center.
