City of Avondale hosting events at newly opened Alamar Park on Saturday

Developer Brookfield Residential, is presenting three free events at the newly opened Alamar Park in Avondale. These community events are family and dog friendly, open to the public, and free to attend.

First is Avondale Fiesta, a Cinco de Mayo inspired street festival on Saturday, April 29th, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event features authentic Mexican cuisine, music, dancing, and entertainment. There will be onsite exhibitors including the

Alamar Community Life team which will host an interactive photo both that will be located at ramada seven. An event site map and event details are available at www.avondaleaz.gov/Avondale Fiesta.

Next, Alamar presents the Avondale Family Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 6th from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The community is invited to bring their fishing equipment to compete in several competitions including biggest fish, smallest fish, heaviest fish, most fish and more.

Attendees over the age of 14 must obtain a fishing license in order to fish. There will be a raffle every hour and prizes will be given out. Registration is required and the deadline is April 26th.

Thanks to the City of Goodyear Parks & Recreation and Avondale Parks & Recreations there will be an Adaptive Fishing Derby available. To check out more details and register for the competitions go to www.avondaleaz.gov/Family Fishing Derby.


Finally, grab a bag of popcorn for Poppin’ in the Park coming to Alamar Park on Saturday, May 13th from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The community is invited to bring folding chairs or blankets and watch the animated film Turning Red, which will begin


at dusk. Guests are also invited to enjoy food trucks, family-friendly activities, and family trivia for a chance to win prizes. More event details are available at www.avondaleaz.gov/Poppin in the Park.
