The City of Avondale and Agua Fria High School are partnering to host the "Hoot ‘n’ Hustle" 5K run on Saturday, Feb. 1.
The event will take participants through Old Town Avondale, with a finish-line block party at Agua Fria High School.
The race will begin at 8:00 a.m., with the route passing through the historic district and concluding at the high school. Participants can enjoy a fun, owl-themed atmosphere, including warm-ups with the mascot, Hootie the Owl, and support from local school clubs and sports teams.
Following the 5K, a block party will take place at Agua Fria High School, featuring exhibitors, food trucks, and a DJ. A free 400-meter Kid’s Dash will also be held at 9:00 a.m., allowing younger participants to join in.
While early bird registration has ended, there is still time to sign up. The regular registration rate is available until Jan. 25, with youth entry priced at $30 and adult entry at $40. Last-minute registrations will be accepted from Jan. 26 to race day at a drop-in rate of $35 for youth and $45 for adults.
All participants will receive a commemorative race bib, t-shirt, medal, and access to the post-race block party. The race will be chip-timed using RFID technology, and awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in both adult and youth categories.
