Avila University is expanding to Goodyear with a new location set to open in August 2025, offering graduate programs in business and technology management.

Avila University Arizona has been approved by the Higher Learning Commission and the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education. The campus will be located in the GEN1 office building in Goodyear’s developing downtown area.

Founded in 1916 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Avila University is a private Catholic institution offering undergraduate and graduate programs with a focus on career preparation.

"We are excited to welcome Avila University Arizona to Goodyear,” stated Joe Pizzillo, mayor of Goodyear. “Avila University will have a positive impact on our residents and businesses, bringing more educational opportunities and economic prosperity to the community. As one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States, we recognize the importance of high-quality education in preparing students for success. Avila’s presence at GSQ will add a unique energy to Goodyear’s new downtown.”

The Goodyear location will launch with five master’s degree programs:

  • Master of Business Administration in project management
  • Master of Business Administration in healthcare administration
  • Master of Science in technology management with a concentration in artificial intelligence
  • Master of Science in technology management with a concentration in business analytics
  • Master of Science in technology management with a concentration in data science

“We are thrilled at this latest campus development,” Jim Burkee,  president of Avila University, stated. “As we bring on an additional location, we are honored to be able to provide more opportunities for students across the United States and the globe to study in our programs. Offering these experiences to international students is another way we honor the legacy of our founding sisters.”

The university plans to add more programs as the Goodyear location develops.
