Posted

Anne  of Sun City West AZ., born April 4, 1936 in Chicago, Ill. was 86 years old when she passed on March 9th, 2023.  She is survived by her two children, Norman Capps and Lori Ann Mitchell.  Her son Keith Capps passed in 2016.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, James, Brodie and Margaret Mitchell and Joseph Capps.
Mom served in the Airforce from 1954-58 where she met and married Keith Terry Capps. They later divorced in 1971. After the divorce, Mom went back to school and worked as a public health nurse for many years. She was active in the AMVETS post in Long Beach, CA and became the post commander serving from 1981-82. She moved to Gilbert, AZ in 1988 and worked as a nurse in the VA hospital until her retirement in 2001. Shortly after retirement she moved to Sun City West, AZ.
Mom was very athletic and loved softball, bowling and golf.  She was on a softball team in the military and an AMVETS bowling league for many years.
While living in Sun City West, she was a member of the arthritis club, wine club, catholic service club and enjoyed volunteering at the food pantry. She also served as her HOA secretary.
Mom loved margaritas and Mexican food.  After her passing, we held a celebration of her life at her home in Sun City West. We all enjoyed margaritas and Mexican food in Mom’s honor while sharing pictures and stories.
There will be a funeral Mass in Chicago in May. She will be laid to rest alongside her son Keith Capps in Maryhill Cemetery.
