Accurso, Gianoli, Cooper, Fondong win final four regular season votes

The West Valley Preps football player on the week votes have finished the regular season and it's time to honor the last four winners. 

Liberty senior tailback/linebacker Jace Accurso comfortably won the Week 8 vote, for games played Oct. 11, with 1,054 of 2,776 total votes cast.

He had 11 carries for 71 yards, a rushing touchdown and a touchdown reception during the Lions' win at Boulder Creek.

Valley Vista junior quarterback Burt Delay finished second with 753 votes. He completed 19 of 30 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns, plus ran for 51 yards and a touchdown in the Monsoon blowout of Copper Canyon

Millennium senior quarterback Jalan Early placed third with 554 votes. In the Tigers' narrow win against Verrado, Early was 13-20 for 255 yards and three touchdowns, plus had 15 carries for 100 yards and another score.

For the Week 9 vote, Sunrise Mountain pulled away fairly easy from the competition, receiving 963 of the 2,006 votes.

In a 43-14 blowout of Phoenix Sunnyslope, Gianoli rushed 14 times for 133 yards and three touchdowns, and passed 10-13 for 105 yards.

Millennium senior linebacker Brandon Fondong was second with 332 votes. Hr made 10 tackles, four tackles for loss and forced a fumble in the Tigers' shutout of Avondale Agua Fria.

Estrella Foothills junior linebacker Quinlan Popham was a close third with 304 votes. He had 10 tackles ana sack in the Wolves' 32-6 stroll in Yuma.

Liberty freshman tailback Zaccheus Cooper (can freshmen go to prom these days?) comfortably won the Week 10 vote, for games played Oct. 25, with 719 of 1,355 total votes cast.

He had 15 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown during the Lions' win at O'Connor.

Cactus senior linebacker Nate (Doodles) Quinones finished second with 429 votes. He had 16 tackles and a fumble recovery as the Cobras headed north for a win at Coconino.

ight of the regular seasonPeoria senior defensive end Gabriel Ocampo was a distant third with 60 votes. In the Panthers' romp against Lake Havasu he dominated, with five sacks a forced fumble and seven tackles.

After coming close once, Fondong and Quinones battled for the Week 11 honors — for games played on Nov. 1, the last night of the regular season.

Fondong won with 522 votes to Quinones' 434. In all, 1,429 votes came in.

In the Tigers' 62-8 laugher against Independence, Fondong racked up 16 tackles and two sacks.

Quinones led Cactus' comeback against Peoria, as the Cobras won 20-14 after trailing 14-0 at halftime. Doodles had 14 tackles, a blocked punt that led to a touchdown, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Desert Edge quarterback Adryan Lara was third with 231 votes. In an eay Scorpions win against Lake Havasu he completed 13 of 16 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns.

For the fourth straight year, player of the week honorees, including Accurso, Gianoli, Cooper and Fondong will win more than bragging rights.
