For over 50 years, the West Valley Arts Council has supported local artists and enriched the region’s cultural landscape. Now, WVAC is calling for Arizona-based sustainable artists to submit work for its upcoming sustainable exhibit, running April 4 to May 8, at the Arts HQ Gallery in Surprise.
Timed around Earth Day, the exhibit will showcase original 2D and 3D artwork created from natural and upcycled materials, creating a trash to treasure theme behind the fine art crafted from discarded or salvaged materials.
Artists 18 and older residing in Arizona are encouraged to submit up to four pieces of original work that fit the sustainability theme. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, March 15 by midnight.
Submissions must include high-quality images along with the title, dimensions, medium, and pricing which includes a 25% gallery commission.
Artists should also provide a biography and a brief description of the materials used in their work. A $15 nonrefundable entry fee covers up to four submissions.
Selected works will be displayed at Arts HQ Gallery, located at 16126 N. Civic Center Plaza, Suite 102 in Surprise. The exhibit kicks off with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 4, free and open to the public.
Participating artists are encouraged to attend and share their work with fellow creatives and visitors.
