A new West-MEC campus – the career and technical education school district’s fifth in the Valley – is coming to the southeast side of Phoenix.
The new Western Maricopa Education Center broke ground on its Southeast Campus on Tuesday at 93rd Avenue and Osborn Road. It will be West-MEC’s largest campus.
West-MEC also has campuses in Glendale, Surprise, Buckeye, and Avondale.
West-MEC partners with 15 public school districts and two charter districts to enhance CTE programs. Partner districts include Agua Fria, Buckeye, Deer Valley, Dysart, Gila Bend, Glendale Union, Nadaburg, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Saddle Mountain, Tolleson, and Wickenburg.
Elementary partner districts are Cartwright, Littleton, and Pendergast.
Partner charter high school districts are Paradise Honors and Ridgeline Academy.
“Designed to address the West Valley’s evolving workforce needs, this innovative facility reflects insights from partnerships with industry leaders like Amazon, Amkor, Gatorade, Nestle, and TSMC,” West-MEC Superintendent Dr. Scott Spurgeon shared in a press release. “These collaborations have shaped programs that equip students with the skills to excel in high-demand careers.”
The multi-phased project will include 50,000 square feet of educational space, several CTE pathways, including medical assisting, physical therapy, IT security, advanced manufacturing, and welding.
Construction will be completed by summer 2026.
