Western Maricopa Education Center is seeking to fill the recently vacated District 1 position on its seven-member governing board.
Board membersfor West-MEC must reside within the districts they represent. District 1 encompasses parts of Goodyear, Avondale and Phoenix. Click here to view the district boundaries.
More than 37,000 students in 48 high schools across the Valley are enrolled in West-MEC programs.
The governing board sets district policies for the technical education school district. West-MEC “focuses solely on innovative career and technical education programs that prepare students to enter the workforce and pursue continuing education,” according to the district website.
Regularly scheduled board meetings take place on the second Wednesday of every month at 4:30 p.m.
Interested parties should go to west-mec.edu for the governing board member application and qualified voter and residency affidavit. Both forms must be submitted by Sept. 15 to Dee Markham at dee.markham@west-mec.org.
