Veteran to receive payment-free vehicle in honor of U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday

Posted

Former U.S. Army Specialist and Goodyear resident Andrew Coughlan will be presented with a payment-free vehicle as part of a veteran support program recognizing his military service.

The ceremony will take place June 30 at Bill Luke Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM in Phoenix, in celebration of the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday.

The vehicle is being awarded through the Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Transportation4Heroes program in partnership with Wells Fargo and the Phoenix-based dealership. The event also marks the 10-year anniversary of the foundation’s collaboration with Wells Fargo Auto.

Coughlan enlisted in the Army in 2002 during his senior year of high school following the events of Sept. 11. He served with the 10th Mountain Division and deployed to Iraq from 2003 to 2004, where he sustained injuries that led to his medical retirement in 2006. His commendations include the Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device and the Combat Infantry Badge.

MWSF reports it has awarded more than 200 vehicles to veterans across the country since the Transportation4Heroes program began. Recipients also take part in a financial mentoring program that has helped participants eliminate more than $29 million in pre-existing debt, according to the nonprofit.

The presentation is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the dealership, located at 2425 W. Camelback Road.
