Robert of Surprise, AZ, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2020 at the age of 82. Born September 25, 1937 in Wooster, OH, Bob attended Wooster High School from which he graduated in 1955.

Shortly after his graduation, Bob enlisted in the US Navy. Soon after that, he joined the US Army. While in the Army, Bob received extensive training in electronics. This eventually led to an opening to serve at the Nike Radar Base in White Sands, NM. This led to a civilian opportunity to work at the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) in Thule, Greenland in 1961. After completing this assignment, Bob worked for Lockheed Electronics in Edison, NJ. During that time, he became interested in the emerging development of air pollution control technology. Bob had a great career in the air pollution control industry, selling equipment that allowed both industries and the environment to thrive.

Bob was always an active volunteer in his community. He served as a leader in the United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees) in Raritan, NJ. He was a member of the Raritan Valley Masonic Lodge. Bob was an active parent volunteer with the Boy Scouts in Scottsdale, AZ where his son Kurt was a member. He finally retired in his beloved state of Arizona but remained active serving for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Posse and the Westbrook Village Posse. He received several awards for civic volunteerism during his retirement years.

Bob lived a long, wonderful life. He made great memories with lifelong friends. He raised a family, cared for them and loved them with all his heart. He traveled the world with his best friend and companion Martha and most importantly, in recent years bolstered his relationship with the Lord.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Earl P. Stype and Elizabeth (Oliver) Stype Palmer, his brother, Earl H. Stype, and sister Elizabeth “Betty” (Stype) Greenwood. He is survived by his loving companion of 17 years, Martha Bails; daughter, Lisa (Mark) Bernier; son, Kurt (Terri) Stype; grandsons, Matthew Walker and Jacob Walker; granddaughter, Mackenzie Stype; and great-grandson Jonathan Walker.
