50,000-square-foot commercial center planned in Verrado

One of the nation’s largest shopping center developers has partnered with Verrado, the master-planned community in Buckeye, to build a new 50,000-square-feet commercial space on the northeast corner of Verrado Way and the Interstate-10.

The developers involved in the project, Vestar and DMB Associates have called the planned development ‘dynamic,’ though a press release announcing the project doesn’t get into specifics.

The shopping center, which is being called Verrado Marketplace, is expected to include an upscale grocery store, a department store, movie theater, restaurants and various services– similar to a great many commercial centers in the state.

Developers say Verrado Marketplace is “poised to serve as a Town Center” and will include “large public outdoor spaces rich in amenities” that will serve as a “gathering spot” for visitors and residents of surrounding communities.

The project will “complement the existing commercial services already in place on the west side of Verrado Way,” according to the announcement.

Vestar is the developer behind Tempe Marketplace and Desert Ridge Marketplace.

Construction crews aren’t expected to break ground on Verrado Marketplace until the summer of 2023 if developers can meet city of Buckeye requirements.
