New Life Center selected as Lowe’s Hometowns project to renovate emergency casitas

Posted

New Life Center has been selected as one of 100 community-nominated projects across the country to receive a large-scale renovation through Lowe’s Hometowns, the company’s signature five-year, $100 million community impact initiative.

The Goodyear-based nonprofit, which operates one of the largest standalone domestic violence shelters in Arizona, will use the funding to renovate eight emergency shelter casitas. Planned improvements include new bathroom fixtures, durable flooring and energy-efficient lighting.

The renovations are intended to provide a more welcoming and calming environment for survivors of domestic violence as they work to stabilize, heal and transition to the next phase of their lives.

Now in its fourth year, Lowe’s Hometowns supports the revitalization of nonprofit and community spaces that serve as local hubs and heartbeats for hometowns according to the company. Projects are carried out with the help of Lowe’s red vest associates across the country.

This year’s selected efforts include expanding kitchen and serving capacity for food pantries, restoring transitional housing, revitalizing parks and gardens, and building restorative spaces for first responders.

Earlier this year, Lowe’s announced a promise to deliver 10 million square feet of community impact through initiatives like Lowe’s Hometowns.
