Native Air opens Goodyear base

Posted

Native Air 23 has begun operations at Abrazo West Campus, providing air medical transport services in western and central Arizona. The base, which opened Feb. 5, joins sister locations Native Air 1 in Mesa and Native Air 20 in Phoenix, serving Maricopa, Pinal, Gila, and Yavapai counties.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Abrazo West Campus helipad. Goodyear’s mayor, representatives from Abrazo Health, and officials from Air Methods, Native Air’s parent company, are expected to speak at 10:15 a.m.

The Goodyear base is intended to reduce response times for emergency and trauma situations and facilitate hospital transfers for patients needing specialized care. The Native Air crew is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems and transports patients with medications and equipment for critical care.

Event attendees will have the opportunity to see the AS350 air ambulance helicopter and meet the medical crew, pilots, and aviation mechanics. Light refreshments will be provided.

Air Methods provides air medical transport services nationwide and offers training for critical care nurses and paramedics through its Air Methods Ascend program.
