The Wildlife World Zoo's chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers has partnered with tattoo artist Taylor Wilsey of Ink Island for “TATS 4 CATS,” a fundraiser to support big cat conservation.
The event will feature exclusive tattoo designs, with 20% of all proceeds benefiting Panthera, a global organization focused on wild cat conservation.
Wildlife World Zoo, 16501 W. Northern Ave. in Litchfield Park, spans more than 100 acres and is home to more than 600 species. The zoo offers educational experiences for visitors of all ages.
Through its nonprofit AAZK chapter, the zoo is working with Ink Island to raise funds for Panthera. AAZK is a professional organization that advocates for zookeepers and promotes animal welfare, conservation, and education. The chapter organizes fundraising events, such as “TATS 4 CATS,”to support wildlife conservation, including the protection of endangered big cats.
Proceeds from this event will support Panthera’s efforts to protect species like lions, tigers, and jaguars in the wild.
On Feb. 8, tattoo appointments will be available for flash tattoo designs. On Feb. 15, limited Microrealism tattoos will be offered, featuring lion, tiger, and jaguar designs. These microrealism tattoos are unique, and no changes to size or design will be offered.
Wilsey is the owner and tattoo artist at Ink Island, Ink Island Tattoo 6955 E. Baseline Road, Suite 102 in Mesa and The Beauty Joint in Gilbert. She is passionate about combining her art with wildlife conservation. In addition to tattooing, Wilsey has supported other causes, including providing 3D areola tattoos for breast cancer survivors and helping to cover self-harm scars.
As a frequent visitor to Wildlife World Zoo, Wilsey stated she excited to collaborate with the zoo to raise funds for big cat conservation.
"I love the Wildlife World Zoo dearely and love everything they stand for. I'm so blessed to be able to partner with them and to help save the big cats," Wilsey said.
To ensure all funds go directly to conservation efforts, payments must be made in cash. Venmo and card payments will not be accepted. Clients will need to complete a consent form and submit a screenshot of the design they wish to book, with the selected piece circled.
Spots are limited, and if demand is high, a second day may be added.
