James Leon Loupee

James “Leon” passed away February 2, 2021 in Sun City, AZ. He was born February 12, 1940 in Rock Island, IL. The only child to LeRoy & Clara Belle (Draper) Loupee. The family moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1947 where Leon attended grammar school and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1958. He went on to attend ASU and graduated from Phoenix College with Associates Degree in Business. During this time Leon was a member of the Arizona National Guard. On April 2, 1960 Leon and Doris (Waldres) Loupee were married in Phoenix, Arizona. Most of his working years was in Sales & Service Companies and then owning and running Elite Cleaning & Floor Care.
Leon was a member of The Congregational Church of Sun City, The Sun City Prides and The Phoenix Union Alumni Assoc. Leon loved working with wood and made several tables for his home. In retirement, he took up knitting on a loom and made and donated over 12,000 knitted caps to various organizations such as Hospice of the Valley, Cancer Centers of America & ICM Center for the working poor and others. Leon had a great sense of humor and loved to hear and to tell a good joke. He was quite a dancer in his youth also. He is survived by his wife of 60 plus years Doris Loupee, daughters Cheryl Taylor (Don) and Karen Loupee, Nephew Buster (Vi), niece Liz (Ron) and their children and grandchildren, step sisters Charlotte & Carol (Steve) as well as many cousins across the country. Internment will be at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ. Suggestions for any memorials be given in his memory to: The Congregational Church of Sun City or The Sun City Prides
