Helix Electric to open manufacturing facility in Goodyear

The southwest Valley facility is the company's first in the state of Arizona

California-based contracting company Helix Electric is expected to open a manufacturing facility in Goodyear in the first part of 2022.

The 112,000-square-foot facility, on the southwest corner of Van Buren Street and 143rd Avenue will be used in the manufacturing of electrical construction components and as a shipping center for the company.

It is the company’s first manufacturing facility  in Arizona and was purchased in July for $14.8 million.

The company announced the facility will bring more than 100 jobs to the area. It’s in Goodyear’s Loop 303 industrial corridor, and neighbors several warehouses and distribution centers, including Amazon and Chewy, as well as the Goodyear Municipal Complex.

“After an exhaustive search, we found that Goodyear had the right mix of a trained workforce, a great business climate, and access to transportation networks that would suit our needs now and long into the future,” the company announced in a statement attributed to Helix President Boris Shekhter.

"This is a large investment for our company and we are very excited to partner with the city of Goodyear, the Arizona Commerce Authority and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council to bring our vision of a modern construction manufacturing facility to life.”

Goodyear is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, with a population increase of almost 50% in the last decade, according to 2020 U.S. Census data. The growth has caused businesses to flock to the area, drawn by the city’s business incentives and proximity to key markets such as California, Texas and Mexico.
