Goodyear Youth Commission accepting applications

Submission deadline is May 21

Posted

The city of Goodyear is accepting applications from high school students, including those entering high school this fall, who are interested in joining the Youth Commission.

Applications may be submitted online by Friday, May 21, at  goodyearaz.gov/boardsrecruit.

Applicants should include their name, address, contact number and email on their application form as well as their age, school and year of graduation.

They should list clubs, organizations or groups they belong to, extracurricular activities, offices or positions they hold or have held, awards and significant accomplishments, and answer the following questions:

• What are your strong points?

• How will the city of Goodyear benefit from your membership on the Youth Commission?

• Describe something you have accomplished or a project you have worked on. This should be something that was important to you. How did you contribute to the achievement?

• If selected as a member of the Goodyear Youth Commission, what one project would you like to help implement in the Commission?

They also should provide two references.

Youth Commission membership gives students a chance to learn more about local government and develop leadership skills through their involvement.

It also provides them an opportunity to weigh in on youth-related issues.
