Goodyear to host a free instructional bachata dance event

Posted

The city of Goodyear will hold an instructional bachata night Saturday, April 29, at the Goodyear Civic Square.

The all-ages event will be free to attend. No dance experience is required.

The dance style, similar to salsa or meringue, originates from the Dominican Republic and grew in popularity following the end of a dictatorship that prohibited it until the 1960s.

Bachata meant an impromptu party and the music is described as melancholy with bittersweet lyrics, singing, and dancing.

The event will be at 1900 N. Civic Square 6-9 p.m. on April 29.

Goodyear hosts dozens of events a year; some great ones are on still tap. Stay up to speed on city events by visiting goodyearaz.gov/events.
