Trivium Prep student Keston Zimmerman was recognized as the Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer for the cattle show for the Maricopa County Fair, which has been canceled due to COVID-19.
The fair board and volunteers worked to keep youth livestock exhibitors in competition by organized the first-ever virtual county fair livestock show. Exhibitors washed and prepared their animals and took photos and videos to be submitted to a judge.
Keston has worked for 10 months to prepare his 1,500 pound charolais cross market steer, Dabo. Trivium Prep FFA members also participated in the virtual fair. Kaden Zimmerman exhibited a champion heavyweight steer, and Annie Helland prepared a market goat for auction.
Trivium Prep is located at 2001 N. Bullard Ave., Goodyear, and is one of the local charter nonprofits that make up the Great Hearts Academies network of schools.
