The Goodyear Police department is notifying the community that two convinced sex offenders have or plan to establish residence in Goodyear, Stefan Nelson and Thyrl Benally.
Both men were convicted of having, or attempting to have, inappropriate sexual contact with children, and are each level two sex offenders, meaning the surrounding community is warned whenever they move into a neighborhood.
Their cases do not appear to be related.
Stefen Nelson
Stefen Nelson has moved, or plans to move, to a single-family home located at 141 E. Buena Vista Avenue in Goodyear near North Litchfield and Yuma roads.
Nelson was convinced by the Maricopa County Superior Court of two counts of attempted molestation of a four-year-old girl in 2010.
Nelson is a 30-year-old white male with brown eyes and black hair. He is 5-foot-five and 170 pounds with a full sleeve of tattoos on his left arm and other tattoos on his chest, back and right rib cage.
Thyrl Benally
Thyrl Benally has moved, or plans to move, to a single-family home located at 15213 W. Jackson St. in Goodyear off Estrella Parkway, between Van Buren Street and Yuma Road.
Benally was convicted of “unlawful sexual activity” in 2008 with a girl under the age of 15, a third-degree felony.
Benally is a 36-year-old Native American male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 5-foot-6 and weighs 220 pounds and has scars and pockmarks on his face.
