The city of Goodyear is asking residents who opted for fresh-cut Christmas trees this year to recycle them by Friday, Jan. 8, so they can be chipped and used for mulch and groundcover for a local farm.
Trees should be stripped of ornaments, tinsel, garland, lights and other decorations, and removed from their tree stands.
They may be placed at curbside as part of the city’s bulk collection day.
For more information, call Goodyear Environmental Services at 623-932-3010 or visit goodyearaz.gov/trash.
A to Z Rentals & Equipment, 803 E. Van Buren St., Avondale, also will accept one tree per family from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with the exception of New Year’s Eve, when the office is open 8 a.m. to noon and New Year’s Day, when it’s closed for the holiday.
