Posted
The city of Goodyear announced the promotion of Sumeet Mohan to director of engineering May 8.
In his new role, Mr. Mohan, who served as the city’s deputy director of engineering for the past year, will lead the activities of the Engineering Department, including managing the Capital Improvement Program, Street Transportation and Traffic Operations. He also will lead plan reviews, permits and inspections for assisting existing and future residents, businesses and development partners who wish to develop or build in Goodyear, a news release stated.
Mr. Mohan has decades of professional engineering and leadership experience in Arizona’s public sector. As deputy director, he led the city’s highest-priority projects, implementing best practices to deliver projects on-time and on-budget. Mohan also exudes leadership by fostering a team-oriented environment with a focus on staff development, quality customer service and collaboration, the release stated.
“I am proud to be a part of the dynamic team of dedicated professionals who work hard and smart to provide quality services to all our residents,” Mr. Mohan said, “It is an extremely exciting time to be able to serve our community’s needs, as we move forward with so many important projects that will benefit generations to come.”
Mr. Mohan holds a bachelor of technology in civil engineering, master of science in civil engineering and a master of public administration, in addition to nearly a dozen professional licenses and certifications, the release stated.
Before coming to work with the city last year, he worked for the city of Phoenix for nearly 19 years supporting Development Services and Water Services. During that time, he was honored with numerous awards, including the 2017 Pillar Award for Individual Employee Excellence, the city manager’s highest award.
