Goodyear lecture series features Valley artist Sami Lange

Posted

The city of Goodyear's  Arts & Culture Commission is putting on its monthly Hot Coffee Art Lecture Series, with the next installment taking place Tuesday, July 24 evening at Goodyear City Hall.

Running from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Canyon Trails Training Room at 1900 N. Civic Square, the event will feature artist Sami Lange, who will present a talk titled Stitch by Stitch: Creating Art Paper Quilts.”

Lange will share her creative journey, from a childhood immersed in art to formal training in printmaking. Her talk will focus on the evolution of her paper quilts, artwork made by layering printed paper into circular, patterned compositions. She describes the work as a reflection of intentional choices and joy, offering moments of calm through repetition and natural desert tones.

Lange, a Phoenix-based artist, is known for her hand-stitched paper quilts. Her work blends layers of dyed and cut paper into intricate geometric patterns inspired by mindfulness, daily decision-making and the colors of the Southwest.

The Hot Coffee Lecture Series is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for the best seating.
