The city of Goodyear Economic Development team is building momentum around Goodyear’s recent designation from the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry as “the Best City for Business,” announcing GYR Elevates, a program that provides personalized assistance to local businesses.
The program continues a long-established tradition of proactively reaching out to Goodyear businesses to address issues and concerns, according to a release.
In Goodyear’s ongoing quest to be a supportive partner, the city designed the GYR Elevates program to educate and assist businesses in building customized solutions to become more profitable, efficient and competitive.
“Everyone from our largest employers to our small businesses are competing for workforce, productivity and profitability, and we want to make sure they are maximizing their business potential by taking full advantage of the programs and services our state and region have to offer,” Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord said in a prepared statement.
Under the GYR Elevates program, the team held its first in-person Advanced Manufacturing Summit on June 17 at FLITE Goodyear, with nearly 40 participants representing 12 of Goodyear’s manufacturing companies.
During the event, Sub-Zero Group Inc. Vice President Ron Jones was honored with the GYR Elevates Leadership Award, which acknowledges and celebrates exemplary leaders who have made a significant and positive impact in shaping the future of economic development in Goodyear.
“Locating in the city of Goodyear has been exactly what we anticipated when we decided to build our new manufacturing campus,” Jim Moulton, vice president and general manager of West Operations for Andersen Corp., said in a prepared statement. “The city is ready and willing to address our needs and we tapped into a robust workforce making this a location where our business can thrive.”
Based on the success and the feedback from the Advanced Manufacturing Summit, the city plans to replicate and adapt this event for other business sectors.
“We are keeping our eyes and ears open to stay ahead of the changing economic conditions,” Goodyear Economic Development Director Lori Gary said in a prepared statement. “We want to showcase our targeted industries and elevate them so other like-minded businesses can see their success and choose to locate in Goodyear.”
