Spring semester starts Jan. 21

The Community Choir at Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is seeking additional singers for the spring semester that begins Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Now in its fourth season, the EMCC Community Choir is under the direction of Tina Clark who has been teaching voice and conducting church and public school choirs for more than three decades.

The EMCC Community Choir performs two concerts each year on the Avondale campus, 3000 N. Dysart Road, and is asked to sing in other community events around the West Valley. Previous choral experience is helpful but not essential, and auditions are not required. Most members have sung in church or school choirs, and represent a wide range of abilities.

“Our purpose is to share the joy of singing with each other as well as with the greater community, and to broaden our knowledge of choral singing while meeting new friends along the way,” Ms. Clark stated. “We sing a wide variety of music, Including sacred, secular, jazz, Broadway, gospel, modern and other genres.”

Rehearsals are 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays on the EMCC campus at Montezuma Hall, Room 158, beginning Jan. 21. All interested singers should register for the EMCC Community Choir class #34993 online at my.maricopa.edu for a $50 fee on or before Jan. 21, or by calling 623–935–8888 (option #1).

Email questions to community education department manager Marcia Ford at Marcia.Ford@EstrellaMountain.edu or Ms. Clark at Tina.Clark@EstrellaMountain.edu.
