The Conservatory of the Arts program at Desert Edge High School, 15778 W. Yuma Road, Goodyear, has been recognized as one of the best music programs in the Valley after being named the February winner of Fulton Homes’ School Salute program.
Under the direction of choir director Amy Lowe, the program received a $1,000 check from the local home builder.
Desert Edge’s program seeks to develop students into leaders, role models and musicians. Within the program, students have the opportunity to participate in five different curricular choirs led by Ms. Lowe: beginning, men’s, treble, show and concert choir. There are also two student-led varsity acapella groups. The advanced groups frequently host concerts and events to promote the musical and artistic talent of the students.
Fulton Homes’ School Salute recognizes local middle and high school music programs that submit their rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.” For the ninth consecutive year, Fulton has partnered with 94.5 KOOL FM for its program.
Each week, a winner is chosen to have their performance played on KOOL FM at noon each day. At the end of each month, one of the weekly winners will be awarded a $1,000 check from Fulton Homes.
“Continuing to support the music departments in our local schools has allowed Fulton Homes to celebrate and help develop the passions of the young, talented students in our community,” Fulton Homes CEO Doug Fulton stated in a news release.
To enter, schools can call 94.5 KOOL FM at 602-452-1000. To listen to the bands perform the National Anthem, tune in to 94.5 KOOL FM every day at noon.
