Buckeye business raises $10,770 for local schools

The Buckeye McDonald’s McTeacher’s Night Challenge raised more than $10,770 for local schools in February, continuing a tradition of community support.

"We are thrilled to continue the tradition of supporting our local schools through the McTeacher's Night Challenge, said Abelardo Martinez III, Buckeye McDonald’s owner. “It's more than just a fundraising event; it's a way for us to connect with our community and make a meaningful impact. Our commitment to the Buckeye schools remains a cornerstone of our family's mission as local business owners."

The fundraiser, held at the McDonald’s at 587 S. Watson Road, invited schools to participate in an in-restaurant, drive-thru, and mobile-ordering event, with a portion of sales during a two-hour period benefiting each school.

Twelve elementary and middle schools took part, including Buckeye, Tartesso, Marioneaux, Ruth Fisher, John H. McCain III, Desert Sunset, Winters’ Well, Odyssey Preparatory Academy, Westpark, Sundance, Verrado Elementary, and Verrado Middle School.

Desert Sunset Elementary took first place, earning an additional $500 donation for a total of $1,697. Buckeye Elementary placed second, receiving an extra $250 for a total of $1,070.
