Barbara Fordham McVicker Holly

Posted

Barbara was born to Sophia (Fuqua) and Jack Fordham on August 18, 1932, in Wichita, Kansas. She passed to the other side on January 26, 2021. Her favorite Grandson, Sam, was by her side.
Barbara and Jack McVicker, were married in 1952. After the wedding, they moved to Garden City, Kansas where they had three children, Vicki, Alan and Sondra.
Barbara had a career in banking, retiring as a Vice President.
She married Ret. Air Force Col. Manford (Carl) Holly 1991. Both retired, they moved to Sun City West, Arizona, where Barbara became active in Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and in the group The Shepherds, a special group singing for local nursing homes. She was a starter at Grandview golf course and well-liked by all the players. Carl and Barbara had a wonderful life together until Carl’s untimely death from cancer in 1996.
In 2017, Barbara moved to Eugene, Oregon, to be closer to her daughter, Vicki. She settled into Willamette Oaks retirement community where she felt “very spoiled”.
In March of 2020 she moved in with Vicki and family. In September of 2020, she moved to the Memory Care center at Gateway Gardens in Eugene.
Words cannot begin to describe how she will be missed by all her family. She was truly the light in our life and loved each and every one of us with all her heart. She was a woman of amazing strength, kindness and beauty. Her family wants to thank each and everyone who touched her life with their kindness.
There are no services planned, but to honor her, we encourage you to continue living your life as Barbara did with grace and hope.
