The City of Litchfield Park is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 group of the Litchfield Park Youth Council.
The Youth Council provides an opportunity for local high school students to engage in their community, develop leadership skills, and gain hands-on experience in local government.
The Litchfield Park Youth Council is designed to educate teens about how city government functions and its impact on the community. Its mission is to empower youth by supporting their voice in local government decisions and fostering civic responsibility. The Council works on community service projects, organizes events, and advocates for youth concerns.
Applicants must be high school students who live in the City of Litchfield Park or attend Millennium High School and reside in the 85340 zip code. Interested students should have a genuine interest in city government, politics, or youth-related issues, and must be willing to attend meetings and participate in scheduled activities.
Youth Council members will gain experience by learning about local government through hands-on activities and direct involvement, dveloping leadership skills by actively participating in the planning and execution of community projects, representing youth in public functions and civic events, engaging in community service initiatives that address local needs and serving as advocates for youth in city policy discussions.
Members are expected to attend all scheduled meetings and events. They will also have the chance to participate in teen leadership conferences and other related activities. In addition to regular meetings, members will play a role in organizing and implementing Youth Council projects and events.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until Dec. 31.
