Update (and a correction) on road rage incident in Glendale

Victim recovering, suspect remains at large

Posted

A suspect from a Tuesday road rage incident in Glendale remains at large.

Just before 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 there was a report of shots fired in the area of 55th Avenue and Bethany Home Road, according to Glendale police. When police arrived they found a male gunshot victim who was in his early 30s. Initial information is that the victim got into a road rage incident with the driver of a white four-door sedan.

Police say the victim was on a motorcycle when the incident occurred. The victim stopped his motorcycle in front of the driver of the sedan and the two were in a verbal fight. Information provided is that the verbal fight became a physical fight. During that physical fight the driver of the sedan pulled out a gun and shot the victim, police say, and then the driver drove away.

In an earlier report the Glendale Independent erroneously indicated that the gunshot wound was fatal, but it was not. The Independent regrets the error.

Glendale police reports that the victim remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is still outstanding, and GPD detectives are actively working the case.

The suspect is described as a male in his late teens to early 20s. He was driving a four-door sedan. Investigators are asking anyone that may have any information to contact the Glendale Police Department at 623-930-3000.
